The Gita · Chapter 8

Bhagavad Gita 8.23

यत्र काले त्वनावृत्तिमावृत्तिं चैव योगिनः। प्रयाता यान्ति तं कालं वक्ष्यामि भरतर्षभ॥

yatra kāle tvanāvṛittim āvṛittiṁ chaiva yoginaḥ prayātā yānti taṁ kālaṁ vakṣhyāmi bharatarṣhabha

Translation

That time wherein going forth Yogîs return not, and also that wherein going forth they return, that time shall I declare to thee, O prince of the Bhâratas.

What it means

Now I will declare the times: departing at which yogis do not return, and departing at which they return. Even the calendar of death is folded into the teaching. Timing, in the ancient view, participates in destiny.

Try this today

The doctrine of departure-times: cosmic timing as a factor in whether the journey continues.

Something to reflect on

Do I believe timing participates in outcomes - and does that change when I act?
