The Gita · Chapter 8

Bhagavad Gita 8.24

अग्निर्ज्योतिरहः शुक्लः षण्मासा उत्तरायणम्। तत्र प्रयाता गच्छन्ति ब्रह्म ब्रह्मविदो जनाः॥

agnir jyotir ahaḥ śhuklaḥ ṣhaṇ-māsā uttarāyaṇam tatra prayātā gachchhanti brahma brahma-vido janāḥ

Translation

Fire, light, day-time, the bright fortnight, the six months of the northern path —then, going forth, the men who know the Eternal go to the Eternal.

What it means

Fire, light, daytime, the bright fortnight, the six months of the sun's northern course: departing then, the knowers of the Eternal go to the Eternal. The luminous path symbolizes a consciousness already oriented to light.

Try this today

The bright path: light-symbolism marking the way of no return.

Something to reflect on

When have I departed from something while my inner light was high - and what followed?
