The Gita · Chapter 8

Bhagavad Gita 8.26

शुक्लकृष्णे गती ह्येते जगतः शाश्वते मते। एकया यात्यनावृत्तिमन्ययाऽऽवर्तते पुनः॥

śhukla-kṛiṣhṇe gatī hyete jagataḥ śhāśhvate mate ekayā yātyanāvṛittim anyayāvartate punaḥ

Translation

Light and darkness, these are thought to be the world's everlasting paths; by the one he goeth who returneth not, by the other he who returneth again.

What it means

These two, the bright and the dark, are considered the eternal paths of the world; by one a person does not return, by the other one returns. Two itineraries, one decision. The direction is set long before the departure.

Try this today

Two itineraries summarized: the point is not the astronomy but that outcomes differ by orientation.

Something to reflect on

If my direction were set long before the departure, what is it being set by today?
