The Gita · Chapter 8

Bhagavad Gita 8.25

धूमो रात्रिस्तथा कृष्णः षण्मासा दक्षिणायनम्। तत्र चान्द्रमसं ज्योतिर्योगी प्राप्य निवर्तते॥

dhūmo rātris tathā kṛiṣhṇaḥ ṣhaṇ-māsā dakṣhiṇāyanam tatra chāndramasaṁ jyotir yogī prāpya nivartate

Translation

Smoke, night-time, the dark fortnight also, the six months of the southern path —then the Yogî, obtaining the moonlight, returneth.

What it means

Smoke, night, the dark fortnight, the six months of the southern course: the yogi reaching the lunar light returns. The dimmer path leads back into the cycle. The imagery is about inner brightness at the end.

Try this today

The dim path: the counterpart route of return.

Something to reflect on

When have I left something dimly, only to circle back to it?
