Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 8

Bhagavad Gita 8.5

अन्तकाले च मामेव स्मरन्मुक्त्वा कलेवरम्। यः प्रयाति स मद्भावं याति नास्त्यत्र संशयः॥

anta-kāle cha mām eva smaran muktvā kalevaram yaḥ prayāti sa mad-bhāvaṁ yāti nāstyatra sanśhayaḥ

Translation

And he who, casting off the body, goeth forth thinking upon Me only at the time of the end, he entereth into My being: there is no doubt of that.

What it means

Whoever, at the end, leaving the body, departs thinking of Me alone, comes to My being; there is no doubt of this. The final thought is declared decisive. Death is treated as the examination for which life is the preparation.

Try this today

The deathbed principle stated: the final thought determines the destination.

Something to reflect on

If my last thought is decisive, what is my habitual thought - my practice for that moment?
