The Gita · Chapter 9

Bhagavad Gita 9.1

इदं तु ते गुह्यतमं प्रवक्ष्याम्यनसूयवे। ज्ञानं विज्ञानसहितं यज्ज्ञात्वा मोक्ष्यसेऽशुभात्॥

śhrī bhagavān uvācha idaṁ tu te guhyatamaṁ pravakṣhyāmyanasūyave jñānaṁ vijñāna-sahitaṁ yaj jñātvā mokṣhyase ’śhubhāt

Translation

The Blessed Lord said: To thee, the uncarping, verily shall I declare this profoundest Secret, wisdom with knowledge combined, which, having known, thou shalt be freed from evil.

What it means

To you, free from carping, I shall declare this deepest secret: knowledge joined with realization, knowing which you are freed from evil. The qualification for the highest teaching is an uncynical heart. Openness is the only admission fee.

Try this today

The deepest teaching is offered to the non-cynical student: receptivity, not cleverness, is the qualification.

Something to reflect on

Is my skepticism protecting me from nonsense - or from the one teaching I need?
