Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 1

Bhagavad Gita 1.29

सीदन्ति मम गात्राणि मुखं च परिशुष्यति। वेपथुश्च शरीरे मे रोमहर्षश्च जायते॥

sīdanti mama gātrāṇi mukhaṁ cha pariśhuṣhyati vepathuśh cha śharīre me roma-harṣhaśh cha jāyate

Translation

My limbs fail and my mouth is parched, my body quivers, and my hair stands on end,

What it means

Arjuna's body revolts: limbs fail, mouth dries, skin trembles, hair stands on end. Moral crisis registers physically before it becomes thought. The Gita treats his breakdown as real data, not weakness to be skipped over.

Try this today

A textbook description of acute stress. The body reports overwhelm before the mind can argue.

Something to reflect on

What does my body do when I am overwhelmed - and do I notice it early?
