Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 1

Bhagavad Gita 1.9

अन्ये च बहवः शूरा मदर्थे त्यक्तजीविताः। नानाशस्त्रप्रहरणाः सर्वे युद्धविशारदाः॥

anye cha bahavaḥ śhūrā madarthe tyaktajīvitāḥ nānā-śhastra-praharaṇāḥ sarve yuddha-viśhāradāḥ

Translation

And many others, heroes, for my sake renouncing their lives, with divers weapons and missiles, and all well-skilled in war.

What it means

Beyond the famous names stand "many others" ready to die for Duryodhana, all skilled in war. Countless unnamed lives bend to one man's ambition. The verse invites us to notice who pays the price when a leader clings to pride.

Try this today

Note the phrase 'for my sake'. Loyalty claimed for a personal cause carries the seed of the tragedy that follows.

Something to reflect on

Is the cause I ask others to support bigger than myself?
