Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 10

Bhagavad Gita 10.11

तेषामेवानुकम्पार्थमहमज्ञानजं तमः। नाशयाम्यात्मभावस्थो ज्ञानदीपेन भास्वता॥

teṣhām evānukampārtham aham ajñāna-jaṁ tamaḥ nāśhayāmyātma-bhāva-stho jñāna-dīpena bhāsvatā

Translation

Out of pure compassion for them, dwelling within their Self, I destroy the ignorance-born darkness by the shining lamp of wisdom.

What it means

Out of pure compassion, dwelling in their own Self, I destroy the darkness born of ignorance with the shining lamp of knowledge. Grace is described as interior lighting. The darkness leaves by illumination, not eviction.

Try this today

The interior lamp: the light is lit from inside the seeker, not delivered from outside.

Something to reflect on

When has darkness in me left by illumination rather than by force?
