The Gita · Chapter 11

Bhagavad Gita 11.41

सखेति मत्वा प्रसभं यदुक्तं हे कृष्ण हे यादव हे सखेति। अजानता महिमानं तवेदं मया प्रमादात्प्रणयेन वापि॥

sakheti matvā prasabhaṁ yad uktaṁ he kṛiṣhṇa he yādava he sakheti ajānatā mahimānaṁ tavedaṁ mayā pramādāt praṇayena vāpi

Translation

If, thinking Thee but friend, importunate, O Krishna! or O Yâdava! O friend! I cried, unknowing of Thy majesty, And careless in the fondness of my love;

What it means

If, thinking of You merely as a friend, I said "O Krishna," "O Yadava," "O friend," carelessly, not knowing this greatness of Yours, out of distraction or out of love. Arjuna audits the friendship. Intimacy, seen from the vision, now looks like presumption.

Try this today

The apology begins: familiarity suddenly revealed as presumption - though committed through love.

Something to reflect on

Whose significance have I missed through over-familiarity?
