The Gita · Chapter 13

Bhagavad Gita 13.9

असक्ितरनभिष्वङ्गः पुत्रदारगृहादिषु।नित्यं च समचित्तत्वमिष्टानिष्टोपपत्तिषु॥

asaktir anabhiṣhvaṅgaḥ putra-dāra-gṛihādiṣhu nityaṁ cha sama-chittatvam iṣhṭāniṣhṭopapattiṣhu

Translation

Unattachment, absence of self-identification with son, wife or home, and constant balance of mind in wished-for and unwished-for events,

What it means

Non-attachment, non-identification with son, wife and home, and constant even-mindedness in desired and undesired events. Love without fusion. Relationships continue, but they stop being mistaken for the self.

Try this today

Family love without fusion: caring for household while not being defined by it, steady in both kinds of news.

Something to reflect on

Can I love my people without being dissolved into them?
