The Gita · Chapter 14

Bhagavad Gita 14.16

कर्मणः सुकृतस्याहुः सात्त्विकं निर्मलं फलम्।रजसस्तु फलं दुःखमज्ञानं तमसः फलम्॥

karmaṇaḥ sukṛitasyāhuḥ sāttvikaṁ nirmalaṁ phalam rajasas tu phalaṁ duḥkham ajñānaṁ tamasaḥ phalam

Translation

It is said the fruit of a good action is harmonious and spotless; verily the fruit of Motion is pain, and the fruit of Inertia unwisdom

What it means

The fruit of good action is said to be sattvic and pure; the fruit of rajas is pain; the fruit of tamas is ignorance. Each quality pays in its own currency. Goodness yields clarity, striving yields ache, dullness yields more dullness.

Try this today

Each seed's harvest: clarity, pain, dullness. Choose the mode, choose the crop.

Something to reflect on

What currency did my last effort pay in - clarity, ache or dullness?
