The Gita · Chapter 14

Bhagavad Gita 14.7

रजो रागात्मकं विद्धि तृष्णासङ्गसमुद्भवम्।तन्निबध्नाति कौन्तेय कर्मसङ्गेन देहिनम्॥

rajo rāgātmakaṁ viddhi tṛiṣhṇā-saṅga-samudbhavam tan nibadhnāti kaunteya karma-saṅgena dehinam

Translation

Motion, the passion nature, know thou, is the source of attachment and thirst for life, O Kaunteya, that bindeth the dweller in the body by the attachment to action.

What it means

Rajas is of the nature of passion, the source of thirst and clinging to life; know that it binds the embodied one by attachment to action. Restlessness feels like aliveness. The compulsion to do masquerades as purpose.

Try this today

Rajas diagnosed: craving and restless doing - the engine that cannot idle.

Something to reflect on

Where does my restlessness masquerade as purpose?
