Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 14

Bhagavad Gita 14.8

तमस्त्वज्ञानजं विद्धि मोहनं सर्वदेहिनाम्।प्रमादालस्यनिद्राभिस्तन्निबध्नाति भारत॥

tamas tv ajñāna-jaṁ viddhi mohanaṁ sarva-dehinām pramādālasya-nidrābhis tan nibadhnāti bhārata

Translation

But Inertia, know thou, born of unwisdom, is the deluder of all dwellers in the body; that bindeth by heedlessness, indolence and sloth, O Bharata.

What it means

Tamas, born of ignorance, deludes all embodied beings; it binds by heedlessness, laziness and sleep. The darkest guna is not evil but fog. Its weapon is the nap that never ends.

Try this today

Tamas diagnosed: not rest but fog - confusion presenting itself as stillness.

Something to reflect on

Where does my fog present itself as rest?
