The Gita · Chapter 15

Bhagavad Gita 15.8

शरीरं यदवाप्नोति यच्चाप्युत्क्रामतीश्वरः।गृहीत्वैतानि संयाति वायुर्गन्धानिवाशयात्॥

śharīraṁ yad avāpnoti yach chāpy utkrāmatīśhvaraḥ gṛihītvaitāni sanyāti vāyur gandhān ivāśhayāt

Translation

When the Lord acquireth a body and when He abandoneth it, He seizeth these and goeth with them, as the wind takes fragrances from their retreats

What it means

When the lord of the body takes a body and when it leaves, it goes taking these senses with it, as the wind carries scents from their beds. Death is a relocation of the whole subtle equipment. Nothing essential is left behind.

Try this today

The wind-and-fragrance image for transmigration: the carrier moves on, carrying what it gathered.

Something to reflect on

What will I carry with me when everything visible is left behind?
