Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 17

Bhagavad Gita 17.10

यातयामं गतरसं पूति पर्युषितं च यत्।उच्छिष्टमपि चामेध्यं भोजनं तामसप्रियम्॥

yāta-yāmaṁ gata-rasaṁ pūti paryuṣhitaṁ cha yat uchchhiṣhṭam api chāmedhyaṁ bhojanaṁ tāmasa-priyam

Translation

That which is stale and flat, putrid and corrupt, leavings also and unclean, is the food dear to the dark.

What it means

Food that is stale, tasteless, putrid, rotten, leftover and impure is dear to the tamasic. Carelessness extends to what is eaten. Indifference to inputs produces dullness of output.

Try this today

Tamasic food: dead and degraded intake matching a deadened state.

Something to reflect on

What deadened inputs am I consuming because I have stopped caring?
