The Gita · Chapter 17

Bhagavad Gita 17.9

कट्वम्ललवणात्युष्णतीक्ष्णरूक्षविदाहिनः।आहारा राजसस्येष्टा दुःखशोकामयप्रदाः॥

kaṭv-amla-lavaṇāty-uṣhṇa- tīkṣhṇa-rūkṣha-vidāhinaḥ āhārā rājasasyeṣhṭā duḥkha-śhokāmaya-pradāḥ

Translation

The passionate desire foods that are bitter, sour, saline, over-hot, pungent, dry and burning and which produce pain, grief and sickness.

What it means

Bitter, sour, salty, overly hot, pungent, dry and burning foods, producing pain, grief and sickness, are desired by the rajasic. Stimulation is the rajasic appetite. What excites the tongue taxes the system.

Try this today

Rajasic food: intensity purchased with later pain - the tongue's thrill, the body's bill.

Something to reflect on

Where do I buy intensity with later pain?
