The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.25

अनुबन्धं क्षयं हिंसामनपेक्ष्य च पौरुषम्।मोहादारभ्यते कर्म यत्तत्तामसमुच्यते॥

anubandhaṁ kṣhayaṁ hinsām anapekṣhya cha pauruṣham mohād ārabhyate karma yat tat tāmasam uchyate

Translation

The action undertaken from delusion, without regard to capacity and consequences—loss and injury to others—that is declared to be dark.

What it means

Action undertaken from delusion, without regard to capacity, consequences, loss or harm: that is declared tamasic. The dark act ignores cost to self and others. Recklessness is a form of sleep.

Try this today

Tamasic action: launched blind, heedless of cost to anyone.

Something to reflect on

What have I launched blind, heedless of cost to myself or others?
