The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.33

धृत्या यया धारयते मनःप्राणेन्द्रियक्रियाः।योगेनाव्यभिचारिण्या धृतिः सा पार्थ सात्त्विकी॥

dhṛityā yayā dhārayate manaḥ-prāṇendriya-kriyāḥ yogenāvyabhichāriṇyā dhṛitiḥ sā pārtha sāttvikī

Translation

The unwavering firmness by which, through Yoga, one restraineth the activity of the mind, of the life breaths and of the sense-organs, that firmness, O Partha, is pure.

What it means

The unwavering firmness by which, through yoga, one holds the activities of mind, life-breath and senses: that firmness is sattvic. True steadiness is self-command. It grips the instruments, not the outcomes.

Try this today

Sattvic persistence: holding the whole system steady by practice.

Something to reflect on

Does my persistence grip the instruments or the outcomes?
