Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.5

यज्ञदानतपःकर्म न त्याज्यं कार्यमेव तत्।यज्ञो दानं तपश्चैव पावनानि मनीषिणाम्॥

yajña-dāna-tapaḥ-karma na tyājyaṁ kāryam eva tat yajño dānaṁ tapaśh chaiva pāvanāni manīṣhiṇām

Translation

Acts of sacrifice, gift and austerity should not be relinquished, but should be performed; sacrifice, gift and also austerity are the purifiers of the intelligent.

What it means

Sacrifice, charity and austerity should not be abandoned but performed, for these purify the wise. The acts that clean the instrument are exempt from renunciation. You do not give up what gives you clarity.

Try this today

The verdict's first half: keep the giving practices - they clean the doer.

Something to reflect on

What practices clean my instrument - and why would I ever give those up?
