Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.59

Translation

Entrenched in egoism, thou thinkest, "I will not fight;" to no purpose thy determination; nature will constrain thee.

What it means

Fixed in egoism you think "I will not fight"; vain is your resolve; your nature will compel you. The refusal cannot hold. What we are will eventually act through us, with or without consent.

Try this today

The prediction: Arjuna cannot actually abstain - his own nature will move him. Choice is real at a different level than he thinks.

Something to reflect on

Where am I vowing against my own nature - and who will win?
