Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 18

Bhagavad Gita 18.7

नियतस्य तु संन्यासः कर्मणो नोपपद्यते।मोहात्तस्य परित्यागस्तामसः परिकीर्तितः॥

niyatasya tu sannyāsaḥ karmaṇo nopapadyate mohāt tasya parityāgas tāmasaḥ parikīrtitaḥ

Translation

Verily renunciation of actions that are prescribed is not proper; the relinquishment thereof from delusion is said to be of darkness.

What it means

Abandoning prescribed duty is not proper; giving it up out of delusion is declared tamasic. Skipping what must be done is not spirituality. Neglect dressed in peace is still neglect.

Try this today

Quitting duty from confusion is tamas: the worst reason to stop is a muddled one.

Something to reflect on

Is my 'letting go' of a duty really clarity - or a muddle in a costume?
