Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 2

Bhagavad Gita 2.12

न त्वेवाहं जातु नासं न त्वं नेमे जनाधिपाः। न चैव न भविष्यामः सर्वे वयमतः परम्॥

na tvevāhaṁ jātu nāsaṁ na tvaṁ neme janādhipāḥ na chaiva na bhaviṣhyāmaḥ sarve vayamataḥ param

Translation

Nor at any time verily was I not, nor thou, nor these princes of men, nor verily shall we ever cease to be, hereafter.

What it means

Never was there a time when I, you, or these kings did not exist; never will we cease to be. The first teaching is the eternality of the self. Identity does not begin at birth or end at death.

Try this today

The first metaphysical argument: the Self in each being is everlasting; existence does not begin or end with the body's chapter.

Something to reflect on

What in me has never not existed - and how would I live if I believed that?
