Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 2

Bhagavad Gita 2.16

नासतो विद्यते भावो नाभावो विद्यते सतः। उभयोरपि दृष्टोऽन्तस्त्वनयोस्तत्त्वदर्शिभिः॥

nāsato vidyate bhāvo nābhāvo vidyate sataḥ ubhayorapi dṛiṣhṭo ’nta stvanayos tattva-darśhibhiḥ

Translation

The unreal hath no being; the real never ceaseth to be; the truth about both hath been perceived by the seers of the essence of things.

What it means

The unreal has no being; the real never ceases to be. Seers distinguish what is permanent from what passes. This is the Gita's core discernment: build your life on what cannot be taken away.

Try this today

A filter for fear: what can be destroyed was never the essential thing; what is essential cannot be destroyed.

Something to reflect on

In what I fear losing, what part was never truly mine or truly lasting?
