Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 2

Bhagavad Gita 2.25

अव्यक्तोऽयमचिन्त्योऽयमविकार्योऽयमुच्यते। तस्मादेवं विदित्वैनं नानुशोचितुमर्हसि॥

avyakto ’yam achintyo ’yam avikāryo ’yam uchyate tasmādevaṁ viditvainaṁ nānuśhochitum arhasi

Translation

Unmanifest, unthinkable, immutable, he is called; therefore knowing him as such, thou shouldst not grieve.

What it means

The Self is called unmanifest, unthinkable, unchangeable; knowing this, do not grieve. Grief assumes loss of something real. What is truly real cannot be lost.

Try this today

Grief assumes the essential has been harmed. This verse argues it cannot be.

Something to reflect on

What grief of mine rests on the assumption that something real was lost forever?
