The Gita · Chapter 2

Bhagavad Gita 2.39

एषा तेऽभिहिता सांख्ये बुद्धिर्योगे त्विमां श्रृणु। बुद्ध्यायुक्तो यया पार्थ कर्मबन्धं प्रहास्यसि॥

eṣhā te ’bhihitā sānkhye buddhir yoge tvimāṁ śhṛiṇu buddhyā yukto yayā pārtha karma-bandhaṁ prahāsyasi

Translation

This teaching set forth to thee is in accordance with the Sâñkhya; hear it now according to the Yoga, imbued with which teaching, O Pârtha, thou shalt cast away the bonds of action.

What it means

What you have heard is the Sankhya view, the knowledge of the Self; now hear the Yoga of action, by which you cast off the bondage of karma. Krishna shifts from theory to method. Knowing the truth must become a way of acting.

Try this today

Krishna now moves from theory to method. Understanding why is not enough; a practice for how follows.

Something to reflect on

Do I only know why, or do I also have a method for how?
