The Gita · Chapter 2

Bhagavad Gita 2.44

भोगैश्वर्यप्रसक्तानां तयापहृतचेतसाम्। व्यवसायात्मिका बुद्धिः समाधौ न विधीयते॥

bhogaiśwvarya-prasaktānāṁ tayāpahṛita-chetasām vyavasāyātmikā buddhiḥ samādhau na vidhīyate

Translation

For them who cling to pleasure and lordship, whose minds are captivated by such teaching, is not designed this determinate Reason, on contemplation steadily bent.

What it means

For those obsessed with pleasure and power, whose minds are carried away by such teaching, steady contemplation never forms. Clarity requires wanting the truth more than the prizes.

Try this today

Captivated attention cannot hold resolve. What absorbs you decides what you can decide.

Something to reflect on

What prize has captured my attention so completely that I cannot think straight?
