The Gita · Chapter 2

Bhagavad Gita 2.45

त्रैगुण्यविषया वेदा निस्त्रैगुण्यो भवार्जुन। निर्द्वन्द्वो नित्यसत्त्वस्थो निर्योगक्षेम आत्मवान्॥

trai-guṇya-viṣhayā vedā nistrai-guṇyo bhavārjuna nirdvandvo nitya-sattva-stho niryoga-kṣhema ātmavān

Translation

The Vedas deal with the three attributes; be thou above these three attributes, O Arjuna; beyond the pairs of opposites, ever steadfast in purity, careless of possessions, full of the Self.

What it means

The Vedas deal with the three gunas, the realm of opposites; be free of the three gunas, beyond the pairs, ever established in being, possessed of the Self. Sastri reads this as interior detachment within duty, not abandonment of Vedic life; one tradition's reading, not cross-tradition verified.
