Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 2

Bhagavad Gita 2.60

यततो ह्यपि कौन्तेय पुरुषस्य विपश्चितः। इन्द्रियाणि प्रमाथीनि हरन्ति प्रसभं मनः॥

yatato hyapi kaunteya puruṣhasya vipaśhchitaḥ indriyāṇi pramāthīni haranti prasabhaṁ manaḥ

Translation

O son of Kuntî, the excited senses of even a wise man, though he be striving, impetuously carry away his mind.

What it means

Even a striving wise person's turbulent senses can carry the mind away by force. Krishna is honest about difficulty. The teaching does not pretend willpower alone is enough.

Try this today

An honest warning: even disciplined people get hijacked. Expect it; design for it.

Something to reflect on

Where do I overestimate my own immunity to temptation?
