Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 2

Bhagavad Gita 2.61

तानि सर्वाणि संयम्य युक्त आसीत मत्परः। वशे हि यस्येन्द्रियाणि तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता॥

tāni sarvāṇi sanyamya yukta āsīta mat-paraḥ vaśhe hi yasyendriyāṇi tasya prajñā pratiṣhṭhitā

Translation

Having restrained them all, he should sit harmonised, I his supreme goal; for, whose senses are mastered, of him the understanding is well poised.

What it means

Restraining all the senses, one should sit integrated, with Me as the supreme goal; mastery of senses makes understanding firm. Meditation is introduced as the method: gathered attention aimed at the highest.

Try this today

Restraint plus direction: control the inputs and aim the attention at something higher.

Something to reflect on

What are my senses feeding on while I claim to be focused?
