Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 3

Bhagavad Gita 3.24

उत्सीदेयुरिमे लोका न कुर्यां कर्म चेदहम्। सङ्करस्य च कर्ता स्यामुपहन्यामिमाः प्रजाः॥

utsīdeyur ime lokā na kuryāṁ karma ched aham sankarasya cha kartā syām upahanyām imāḥ prajāḥ

Translation

These worlds would fall into ruin, if I did not perform action; I should be the author of confusion of castes, and should destroy these creatures.

What it means

Were I not to act, these worlds would fall into ruin. Order is upheld by unceasing work, even divine work. Maintenance is not beneath greatness; it is greatness.

Try this today

Responsibility scales with position: the greater the example, the greater the cost of neglect.

Something to reflect on

Does my sense of importance excuse me from maintenance, or oblige me to it?
