Bhagavad Gita 3.3

लोकेऽस्मिन्द्विविधा निष्ठा पुरा प्रोक्ता मयानघ। ज्ञानयोगेन सांख्यानां कर्मयोगेन योगिनाम्॥

śhrī bhagavān uvācha loke’smin dvi-vidhā niṣhṭhā purā proktā mayānagha jñāna-yogena sāṅkhyānāṁ karma-yogena yoginām

Translation

The Blessed Lord said: In this world there is a twofold path, as I before said, O sinless one: that of yoga by knowledge, of the Sâñkhyas; and that of yoga by action, of the Yogis.

What it means

Two classes of aspirants were taught of old: the contemplative, devoted to knowledge, and the active, devoted to works. The paths are related, not rival: action purifies, knowledge liberates.

Try this today

Two legitimate temperaments, two legitimate paths: reflection for some, engaged action for most. The choice is about fit, not rank.

Something to reflect on

Am I built for reflection or for engagement - and have I been walking someone else's path?
