Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 3

Bhagavad Gita 3.5

न हि कश्िचत्क्षणमपि जातु तिष्ठत्यकर्मकृत्। कार्यते ह्यवशः कर्म सर्वः प्रकृतिजैर्गुणैः॥

na hi kaśhchit kṣhaṇam api jātu tiṣhṭhatyakarma-kṛit kāryate hyavaśhaḥ karma sarvaḥ prakṛiti-jair guṇaiḥ

Translation

Nor can anyone, even for an instant, remain really actionless; for helplessly is everyone driven to action by the qualities born of nature.

What it means

Not for a moment can anyone remain truly actionless; the gunas of nature drive all to act. Even sitting still is an action of body and mind. The choice is never whether to act, only how and from what motive.

Try this today

Total inaction is impossible; the body and mind act regardless. The only choice is what kind of action.

Something to reflect on

Since action is unavoidable, what is my default action actually serving?
