Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 3

Bhagavad Gita 3.6

कर्मेन्द्रियाणि संयम्य य आस्ते मनसा स्मरन्। इन्द्रियार्थान्विमूढात्मा मिथ्याचारः स उच्यते॥

karmendriyāṇi sanyamya ya āste manasā smaran indriyārthān vimūḍhātmā mithyāchāraḥ sa uchyate

Translation

Who sitteth, controlling the organs of action, but dwelling in his mind on the objects of the senses, that bewildered man is called a hypocrite.

What it means

Who restrains the body while the mind dwells on sense objects is called a hypocrite. Outer control with inner indulgence is self-deception. Integrity means the inside and outside of an action match.

Try this today

Outward restraint with an indulgent mind is self-deception, not discipline.

Something to reflect on

Where does my behavior say one thing while my attention says another?
