Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 4

Bhagavad Gita 4.10

वीतरागभयक्रोधा मन्मया मामुपाश्रिताः। बहवो ज्ञानतपसा पूता मद्भावमागताः॥

vīta-rāga-bhaya-krodhā man-mayā mām upāśhritāḥ bahavo jñāna-tapasā pūtā mad-bhāvam āgatāḥ

Translation

Freed from passion, fear and anger, filled with Me, taking refuge in Me, purified in the fire of wisdom, many have entered into My Being.

What it means

Freed from passion, fear and anger, absorbed in Me, purified by the fire of knowledge, many have entered My being. The path is described through those who completed it. Purification is by heat, not by distance from life.

Try this today

The entry requirement repeated: the purification is emotional (passion, fear, anger) before it is intellectual.

Something to reflect on

Which of my three fires - wanting, fearing, resenting - is burning highest today?
