Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 4

Bhagavad Gita 4.25

दैवमेवापरे यज्ञं योगिनः पर्युपासते। ब्रह्माग्नावपरे यज्ञं यज्ञेनैवोपजुह्वति॥

daivam evāpare yajñaṁ yoginaḥ paryupāsate brahmāgnāvapare yajñaṁ yajñenaivopajuhvati

Translation

Some Yogis offer up sacrifice to the Shining Ones; others sacrifice only by pouring sacrifice into the fire of the Eternal;

What it means

Some yogis offer sacrifice to the gods; others offer sacrifice itself into the fire of the Eternal. The Gita now catalogs the many forms of offering. Every sincere form has its place.

Try this today

Two altitudes of offering: worship directed at powers, or the very act of offering offered into the absolute.

Something to reflect on

What do I offer, and to what - a power, a person, or the whole itself?
