Bhagavad Gita 4.26

श्रोत्रादीनीन्द्रियाण्यन्ये संयमाग्निषु जुह्वति। शब्दादीन्विषयानन्य इन्द्रियाग्निषु जुह्वति॥

śhrotrādīnīndriyāṇyanye sanyamāgniṣhu juhvati śhabdādīn viṣhayānanya indriyāgniṣhu juhvati

Translation

Some pour as sacrifice hearing and the other senses into the fires of restraint; some pour sound and the other objects of sense into the fires of the senses as sacrifice;

What it means

Some offer hearing and the senses into the fire of restraint; others offer sound and the sense objects into the fire of the senses. Self-control and right enjoyment are both valid offerings. Even sense life can be liturgy when done consciously.

Try this today

Senses trained two ways: restraining what enters, or consciously governing what the senses engage.

Something to reflect on

Which sense input needs my restraint this week, and which needs my conscious use?
