The Gita · Chapter 4

Bhagavad Gita 4.8

परित्राणाय साधूनां विनाशाय च दुष्कृताम्। धर्मसंस्थापनार्थाय संभवामि युगे युगे॥

paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ vināśhāya cha duṣhkṛitām dharma-sansthāpanārthāya sambhavāmi yuge yuge

Translation

For the protection of the good, for the destruction of evil-doers, for the sake of firmly establishing righteousness, I am born from age to age.

What it means

For the protection of the good, the destruction of evildoers, and the firm establishment of dharma, I am born age after age. The purpose is restoration, not novelty. Each age gets the renewal it needs.

Try this today

The threefold purpose: protect the good, remove the destructive, re-establish the order that sustains both.

Something to reflect on

What in my small world needs protecting, removing, or re-establishing this year?
