Bhagavad Gita 5.20
न प्रहृष्येत्प्रियं प्राप्य नोद्विजेत्प्राप्य चाप्रियम्। स्थिरबुद्धिरसम्मूढो ब्रह्मविद्ब्रह्मणि स्थितः॥
na prahṛiṣhyet priyaṁ prāpya nodvijet prāpya chāpriyam sthira-buddhir asammūḍho brahma-vid brahmaṇi sthitaḥ
Translation
With Reason firm, unperplexed, the knower of the Eternal established in the Eternal, neither rejoiceth on obtaining what is pleasant, nor sorroweth on obtaining what is unpleasant.
What it means
Firm in understanding, undeluded, knowing and established in the Eternal, one neither exults at the pleasant nor grieves at the unpleasant. Pleasant and unpleasant keep arriving; the address for joy has moved inward.
Try this today
Stable perception in both directions: good news does not inflate, bad news does not collapse.
Something to reflect on
Which recent news inflated me, and which collapsed me - and where was I in between?
