Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 5

Bhagavad Gita 5.22

Translation

The delights that are contact-born, they are verily wombs of pain, for they have beginning and ending, O Kaunteya; not in them may rejoice the wise.

What it means

Pleasures born of contact are wombs of suffering, for they have beginnings and ends; the wise do not rejoice in them. The verdict is not moral but structural: anything that starts can stop, so it cannot be the ground of happiness.

Try this today

Every pleasure with a start date has an end date built in; treating it as lasting is the setup for pain.

Something to reflect on

Which of my pleasures am I pretending is permanent?
