The Gita · Chapter 6

Bhagavad Gita 6.33

योऽयं योगस्त्वया प्रोक्तः साम्येन मधुसूदन। एतस्याहं न पश्यामि चञ्चलत्वात् स्थितिं स्थिराम्॥

arjuna uvācha yo ’yaṁ yogas tvayā proktaḥ sāmyena madhusūdana etasyāhaṁ na paśhyāmi chañchalatvāt sthitiṁ sthirām

Translation

This yoga which Thou hast declared to be by equanimity, O Madhusûdana, I see not a stable foundation for it, owing to restlessness;

What it means

Arjuna objects honestly: this yoga of equanimity seems to have no stable footing, because of the mind's restlessness. The student's difficulty is legitimate. A teaching that ignores the mind's nature would fail.

Try this today

Arjuna objects on behalf of everyone who has tried: the theory is beautiful, but minds do not hold still.

Something to reflect on

What do I find hardest to hold steady?
