The Gita · Chapter 6

Bhagavad Gita 6.35

असंशयं महाबाहो मनो दुर्निग्रहं चलं। अभ्यासेन तु कौन्तेय वैराग्येण च गृह्यते॥

śhrī bhagavān uvācha asanśhayaṁ mahā-bāho mano durnigrahaṁ chalam abhyāsena tu kaunteya vairāgyeṇa cha gṛihyate

Translation

The Blessed Lord said: Without doubt, O mighty-armed, the mind is hard to curb and restless; but it may be curbed by constant practice and by dispassion.

What it means

"Doubtless the mind is restless and hard to curb, but by practice and dispassion it can be curbed." Two levers, both trainable: repetition and release. Difficulty is admitted, impossibility denied.

Try this today

Krishna concedes the difficulty fully, then gives the only two tools that exist: repetition and release. No shortcut is offered.

Something to reflect on

Am I looking for a third option that does not exist?
