Yathora

The Gita · Chapter 6

Bhagavad Gita 6.9

सुहृन्मित्रार्युदासीनमध्यस्थद्वेष्यबन्धुषु। साधुष्वपि च पापेषु समबुद्धिर्विशिष्यते॥

suhṛin-mitrāryudāsīna-madhyastha-dveṣhya-bandhuṣhu sādhuṣhvapi cha pāpeṣhu sama-buddhir viśhiṣhyate

Translation

He who regards impartially lovers, friends, and foes, strangers, neutrals, foreigners and relatives, also the righteous and unrighteous, he excelleth.

What it means

One excels who regards with equal mind the well-wisher, friend, enemy, the indifferent, the neutral, the hateful, relatives, the virtuous and the sinful. The hardest equality is among people. The list deliberately includes everyone you would rather rank.

Try this today

The hardest impartiality list: not strangers but the people closest and the people opposed.

Something to reflect on

Which person on my hardest list - rival, ex, critic - can I hold in an even mind for one minute?
