The Gita · Chapter 7

Bhagavad Gita 7.13

त्रिभिर्गुणमयैर्भावैरेभिः सर्वमिदं जगत्। मोहितं नाभिजानाति मामेभ्यः परमव्ययम्॥

tribhir guṇa-mayair bhāvair ebhiḥ sarvam idaṁ jagat mohitaṁ nābhijānāti māmebhyaḥ param avyayam

Translation

All this world, deluded by these natures made by the three qualities, knoweth not Me, above these, imperishable.

What it means

Deluded by these three guna-made states, the whole world does not know Me, the imperishable beyond them. The covering is total and universal. Everyone sees the waves; almost no one sees the ocean.

Try this today

Why the obvious stays unseen: the very instruments of perception are made of the lower nature.

Something to reflect on

If my instruments of perception are made of the lower stuff, what are they guaranteed to miss?
