Bhagavad Gita 7.4

भूमिरापोऽनलो वायुः खं मनो बुद्धिरेव च। अहङ्कार इतीयं मे भिन्ना प्रकृतिरष्टधा॥

bhūmir-āpo ’nalo vāyuḥ khaṁ mano buddhir eva cha ahankāra itīyaṁ me bhinnā prakṛitir aṣhṭadhā

Translation

Earth, water, fire, air, ether, Mind, and Reason also and Egoism —these are the eightfold division of My nature.

What it means

Earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intellect and egoism: this is the eightfold division of My nature. The material world, including our inner equipment, is God's lower nature. Even the mind is on the material side of the ledger.

Try this today

The material inventory: eight layers of the lower nature, from the grossest element to the subtlest self-sense.

Something to reflect on

Can I see even my own thoughts as equipment - material, not the operator?
