The Gita · Chapter 8

Bhagavad Gita 8.18

अव्यक्ताद्व्यक्तयः सर्वाः प्रभवन्त्यहरागमे। रात्र्यागमे प्रलीयन्ते तत्रैवाव्यक्तसंज्ञके॥

avyaktād vyaktayaḥ sarvāḥ prabhavantyahar-āgame rātryāgame pralīyante tatraivāvyakta-sanjñake

Translation

From the unmanifested all the manifested stream forth at the coming of day; at the coming of night they dissolve, even in That called the unmanifested.

What it means

At the coming of day, all manifested things stream forth from the unmanifest; at the coming of night, they dissolve into that same unmanifest. Creation breathes. Emergence and return are its rhythm.

Try this today

The universe breathing: emergence and dissolution on a cosmic daily rhythm.

Something to reflect on

What in my world emerges each morning and dissolves each night without my permission?
