The Gita · Chapter 9

Bhagavad Gita 9.25

यान्ति देवव्रता देवान् पितृ़न्यान्ति पितृव्रताः। भूतानि यान्ति भूतेज्या यान्ति मद्याजिनोऽपि माम्॥

yānti deva-vratā devān pitṝīn yānti pitṛi-vratāḥ bhūtāni yānti bhūtejyā yānti mad-yājino ’pi mām

Translation

They who worship the Shining Ones go to the Shining Ones; to the Ancestors go the Ancestor-worshippers; to the Elements go those who sacrifice to Elementals; but My worshippers come unto Me.

What it means

Votaries of the gods go to the gods; ancestor-worshippers to the ancestors; spirit-worshippers to the spirits; My worshippers come to Me. Each devotion reaches its object. Aim is destiny.

Try this today

The destination follows the address: worship is a routing system, and the final address matters.

Something to reflect on

If my devotion's object is my destination, what am I actually aiming at?
