The Gita · Chapter 9

Bhagavad Gita 9.26

पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति। तदहं भक्त्युपहृतमश्नामि प्रयतात्मनः॥

patraṁ puṣhpaṁ phalaṁ toyaṁ yo me bhaktyā prayachchhati tadahaṁ bhaktyupahṛitam aśhnāmi prayatātmanaḥ

Translation

He who offereth to Me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, water, that I accept from the striving self, offered as it is with devotion.

What it means

Whoever offers Me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water, that devoted offering of a striving soul I accept. The smallest gift given with love outranks the grandest given without. Devotion is the only currency quoted.

The accessibility verse: the smallest sincere gift is received at full value. Devotion is the currency, not the item.

Something to reflect on

What is my 'leaf and water' - the small sincere thing I withhold because it seems too small?
